|Purchasing Archival Prints of Works by John Link
return to art works
I sell reproductions of each of the works presented on this web site at a fraction of the price of the original work. In a number of cases, the original work is no longer available, so getting a print of it is the only way you can have the image.
The fancy word for these prints is "Giclée", pronounced "ghee-clay", with a French accent in your voice. It's been around for more than 20 years to denote fine art digital prints made on professional inkjet printers. In my case they are printed in limited, numbered and signed editions of 50 per work. The paper is sized 17 x 22 inches, acid free and selected by me to suit the particular image. The paper I use for most images is Hahnemuhle Bamboo, 290 grams per square meter. But I also use Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 305 gsm when an image benefits from a bright white background. Once you select an image I will tell you the paper it is printed on.
I print with an Epson 4880 Stylus Pro printer using Epson Ultra Chrome K3 ink exclusively. For whatever interest in might have, this printer weighs about 100 pounds. The ink is advertised to last 100 years with minimal fading.
Images are sized to fit well on the paper. My signature, its number in the edition, and the title are handwritten in graphite beneath the image. The print is also embossed with a printer's chop-mark to assure that it was printed according to archival standards and signed by the artist - who is me, of course, as I wear both the printer and artist hats for this operation.
Prints cost $USD 75.00 each, which includes shipping to the lower 48 states rolled in a mailing tube. $5.00 more to Canada and $10.00 more to Alaska or Hawaii. Other countries depend. I have found this paper does well rolled as long as it is removed from the tube after arrival. The quality of the paper is exceptional, so for all I know it might unroll after being left in the tube for quite a while, but I have never tried it. It is just too easy to treat the object with the respect it deserves. If you want it shipped flat, that can be arranged but it will cost extra.
